The Really Big Once
From 2007-10, Ms. Kazans co-produced a play, in conjunction with Target Margin Theater, about the unique collaboration between Tennessee Williams and Elia Kazan on the Camino Real. Based on an original idea by Frances Kazan, the play draws on unpublished material from the archives of Tennessee Williams and Elia Kazan. The Really Big Once, a “dream like” play about the collaboration between Elia and Tennessee Williams adapting the three act Camino Real to one act, received a positive review by Ben Brantley in the New York TImes. The idea for these productions came from a conversation Ms. Kazan had with her late husband Elia where he had told her he only ventured into the avant-garde once – that was with Camino Real.
